Derek's Bio

Derek J. Delaney, is a Financial Planner with Profinium. Derek has been in the Personal Financial Planning industry for 5 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Finance with a minor in Accounting from North Dakota State University in 2011 where he graduated Cum Laude. Derek was previously a Financial Advisor with Thrivent Financial before joining Profinium in 2016. Derek is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner while also holding his series 6, 63, 65, & 7 licenses. He is also pursing his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation as well. Derek specializes in working with pharmacists and other medical professionals. Derek works with clients from all over the country, in person and virtually.

Derek and his wife, Kortney, were married in 2014. Kortney is a Managing Pharmacist with Sterling Long Term Care Pharmacy in Owatonna MN and is a graduate of South Dakota State University (I know, not quite as prestigious as NDSU). Together, they have a 2-year-old son, Benjamin. As a family, they like to travel, attend sporting events, and getting outdoors as much as possible. In his free time, Derek also hosts a wildly successful podcast (30wise) with his friends. Derek lives in Owatonna MN and grew up in Pipestone MN. He is a board member of Habitat for Humanity Two Rivers, along with being a member of the local Kiwanis Club.
